Difficult Conversation Tone Coach

Generate a tailored, empathetic plan with tone, objectives, do/don'ts, openers, phrasing, reaction-reply pairs, boundaries, closing, and prep checklist, using your situation, objective, and concerns.

Prompt Content

Act as an experienced communication coach. Create a concise, empathetic conversation plan to handle a difficult discussion and meet the objective. 1) Use these inputs: <situation> Situation </situation> Objective <concerns> Concerns </concerns> 2) Return exactly these sections: • Situation summary (1 sentence) • Recommended tone (3-5 words) • Objectives (max 2 bullets) • Do / Don't (3 bullets each) • Opening lines (2 options) • Core points phrasing (up to 3 lines) • Likely reactions → replies (3 pairs) • Boundaries and asks (2 bullets) • Closing & follow-up (1-2 sentences) • Prep checklist (4 bullets) 3) Constraints: • Plain, respectful language; prefer I-statements • No blame, labels, absolutes, or therapy-speak • One sentence per bullet or line; keep it brief • Tailor to the business or personal context implied by <situation> Situation </situation> • Do not restate the inputs; no preamble <example> Opening line: "I value our work together and want to talk about something that could improve how we collaborate." Core point: "I've noticed deadlines slipping, which affects the team. I'd like us to agree on a plan to hit dates." Reply to defensiveness: "I'm not saying you're at fault; I'm sharing how this impacts me and what would help." Closing: "Thanks for discussing this-I'll summarize our next steps and check in next week." </example>

Variables

Situation
Who the conversation is with, relationship/setting (work or personal), brief context and what makes it difficult.
Example: My manager sends late-night messages; I feel burned out. One-on-one is tomorrow. I want to preserve trust while setting boundaries.
Objective
The specific outcome you want from the conversation, stated briefly.
Example: Agree on no non-urgent messages after 7pm and a plan for urgent exceptions.
Concerns
Sensitivities, risks, must-avoid words, and any non-negotiables.
Example: Power imbalance; avoid sounding accusatory; don't mention health details; must keep rapport.
